India - Unknown India: Ladakh, Karnataka and Telangana

In 2022, a cultural journey provided an exploration of diverse regions in India, combining two southern states, Karnataka and Telangana, with one northern state, Ladakh. This unique itinerary was chosen due to the ease of access to Ladakh in summer, while the Ghats shield Karnataka and Telangana from the heavy monsoon rains during this season. The itinerary included visits to historically and culturally significant cities and sites, such as Bangalore, Hyderabad, Badami, Belur, Halebid, Hampi, Mysore, Pattadakal, Shravanabelagola, and Srirangapatna in the south. In northern Ladakh, stops included Leh, Hemis, Lamayuru, Likir, Phyang, Shey, Stok, Thiksey, and the High Plateau areas.

In Karnataka and Telangana, the temples and historical monuments, such as the intricately carved temples of Belur, Halebid, and Pattadakal, along with the ruins of Hampi, showcase the architectural and artistic heritage of South India. In Ladakh, visits to Buddhist monasteries perched high in the mountains, including Hemis, Thiksey, and Lamayuru, offered unique insights into the culture and spirituality of the northern Himalayan region. This journey allowed for an exploration of India's cultural and geographical contrasts, encompassing the southern heritage and the unique landscapes and traditions of the northern Himalayas.
