Egypt

In October 2024, we finally fulfilled a long-standing dream by traveling to Egypt, a country that had been at the top of our list for years as lovers of ancient monuments. Despite limited time, we managed to explore numerous iconic sites, each offering a fascinating glimpse into the history and architectural grandeur of this millennia-old civilization.

We began our journey at the majestic pyramids of Giza, guarded by the imposing and enigmatic Sphinx. These ancient wonders, masterpieces of the Old Kingdom, are awe-inspiring both in their sheer scale and their precise construction. Next, in Cairo, we admired the treasures of the Egyptian Museum, including the treasure of Tutankhamun and his intricately crafted burial masks. The bustling and colorful Cairo market gave us a glimpse of another side of this vibrant capital, rich in sounds and scents.

Luxor, a true open-air museum, captivated us with its marvels. The Valley of the Kings, with tombs adorned with frescoes depicting the life and death of pharaohs, left us speechless. The temples of Luxor and Karnak, with their towering statues and finely carved reliefs, offered a spectacular testimony to the power and religious devotion of the time.

Our journey continued south, where the temple of Philae, delicately perched on an island, charmed us with its unique location and exquisite carvings in honor of Isis. The massive Aswan Dam, impressive for its modern scale, stood in stark contrast to the ancient grandeur of nearby temples such as Edfu and Kom Ombo, where the wall reliefs reveal fascinating ritual scenes.

To crown it all, we ended with the majestic temples of Abu Simbel, where the colossal statues of Ramses II still stand defiantly against the surrounding desert. Every monument, statue, and carved wall immersed us deeper into the mysteries of ancient Egypt, offering an unforgettable, discovery-filled experience.
