Walk in the countryside

A small invigorating walk around the villages of Palaung and Pein Ne Bin allows you to meet the people of the countryside, to see their fields and their cultures and to exchange a few glances and words with them.

This walk of ten kilometers in the countryside confirms once again the great fervor of Burmese Buddhists. Everywhere you can see stupas, usually small. Buddha constantly recalls the memories of the Burmese.

On the country lanes, we see farmers working in their fields, others walking with their cows, women busy drying their peppers and buffaloes waiting peacefully to be looked after in front of their farm.

But there are also small traders who weave their traditional clothes while waiting for a customer to pass.

In short, a life made of tranquility and simplicity.

about the place, campagne près de Kalaw:

In the hills of central Myanmar, the air is more breathable and the atmosphere calmer than in the nearby sun-drenched plains. It is in these hills that the British created their mountain resorts to escape the heat to which the climate of their native island has not accustomed them. One of these stations is Kalaw, located about fifty kilometers south of Inle Lake.

It is also in this region that nature walks are most enjoyable.

Spoken comments in the film:

Near the town of Kalaw, in the hills of central Myanmar, one of the greatest pleasures is a walk in the fresh air. In this countryside with a tranquility of another age, we see almost as many stupas of all sizes (but especially small, even very small) as people. And when you see people, they are peasants busy planting or harvesting.
