Meenakshi is a Hindu goddess primarily worshipped in southern India, known as the consort of Lord Shiva and the deity of Madurai.

Meenakshi is a Hindu goddess associated with the Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. She is considered an incarnation of Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva. According to legend, Meenakshi was born with three breasts, and it was prophesied that her third breast would disappear when she met her future husband. She is the daughter of King Malayadhwaja Pandya and Queen Kanchanamalai. As a skilled warrior, she conquered many kingdoms before meeting Shiva, who is known as Sundareswarar in Madurai. Their marriage is celebrated annually during the Chithirai festival. Meenakshi and Shiva do not have children mentioned in the main legends.
