| Shakti | Shakti is the personification of divine feminine energy in Hinduism. She embodies both creative and destructive powers, playing a central role in the processes of creation, preservation, and transformation of the universe. She is worshipped in various forms, including Parvati, Durga, Kali, and Kamakhya, each representing a distinct aspect of her power. In Hindu tradition, Shakti represents primordial energy, the life force that powers the universe. Considered the mother goddess, she embodies divine feminine power (Shaktism) and plays a crucial role in creation, preservation, and destruction. Shakti is often identified with other goddesses like Parvati, Durga, Kamakhya and Kali, who represent various aspects of her power. As the consort of Shiva, she complements the male principle and symbolizes the necessary force for divine action. Her legend is closely tied to Sati, her first incarnation, who self-immolated after a humiliation. Reborn as Parvati, she became the mother of Ganesha and Kartikeya. Shakti is also regarded as the source of all feminine deities in Hinduism and is worshipped in Tantric temples. |
