| Ganesha | Ganesh, also known as Ganesha, is a major deity in Hinduism, recognizable by his elephant head. He is worshipped as the god of wisdom, obstacles, and new beginnings. Ganesh, the son of Shiva and Parvati, is one of the most revered deities in the Hindu pantheon. His elephant head is the result of a clash with his father Shiva, who, not recognizing him, decapitated him. Parvati demanded that Shiva bring him back to life, which he did by affixing an elephant's head. Ganesh is traditionally invoked at the start of any venture or ceremony to remove obstacles. He is also the god of intellect and wisdom. Ganesh does not have any known children in traditional scriptures. |
