| Yadava | The Yadavas are a legendary dynasty and community in India, tied to Hindu mythology and the medieval history of the Deccan region. The term Yadava refers to both an influential medieval dynasty and a mythological lineage in Indian history. Historically, the Yadavas of Devagiri (1187-1317) established their power in the Deccan region under Bhillama V. Their capital, Devagiri (modern-day Daulatabad), served as a strategic political, military, and economic hub. They left a significant mark through their contributions to administration, architecture, and culture. In Hindu mythology, the Yadavas are connected to Krishna, son of Vasudeva and Devaki, and the legendary descendant of Yadu, son of King Yayati and Queen Devayani. Krishna, a central figure in the Mahabharata and the Bhagavad Gita, embodies divine wisdom and justice. This mythological lineage forms the foundation of many cultural and religious traditions in India. |
