Nephtys

Nephthys is an Egyptian goddess associated with funerary rites and the protection of the dead. She is the sister of Isis and Osiris, and the wife of Seth.

She is the daughter of Geb (god of the earth) and Nut (goddess of the sky), and the sister of Isis, Osiris, and Seth, to whom she is married. Though her role is often quieter than that of her sister Isis, Nephthys plays a crucial part in the myth of Osiris. After Seth murdered Osiris, Nephthys helped Isis recover and reassemble his body, allowing for his resurrection. She is also regarded as a protector of the deceased, guiding souls into the afterlife. In some traditions, she is considered the mother of Anubis, the god of embalming, though this lineage is not universally accepted. Her association with death and the protection of souls ties her closely to Egyptian funerary practices, where she watches over the mummies and helps preserve their integrity.
