Seth

Seth is a god in Egyptian mythology, often associated with chaos, storms, and the desert. He is the brother of Osiris and the adversary of Horus.

Seth, also spelled Set or Sutekh, is one of the most complex deities in Egyptian mythology. He is the son of Geb (the Earth) and Nut (the Sky), and the brother of Osiris, Isis, and Nephthys. Seth is best known for his role in the murder of his brother Osiris, the beloved king of Egypt, driven by jealousy and the desire for power. He dismembers Osiris and scatters his parts across Egypt. Isis and her son Horus seek to avenge Osiris and restore order. This conflict between Seth and Horus symbolizes the eternal struggle between order and chaos. Despite being associated with destructive forces, Seth was sometimes worshipped as a protector, particularly during the New Kingdom when he was viewed as the defender of the sun god Ra against evil forces. His ambivalent nature—both destructive and protective—makes him a complex figure in the Egyptian pantheon.
