Mount Meru is a mythical mountain in Hinduism, regarded as the center of the universe and the abode of the gods. It is frequently depicted in Hindu iconography and temples.

Mount Meru, also known as Sumeru, is a sacred mountain in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. According to Hindu cosmology, it is situated at the center of the universe and is surrounded by seven concentric chains of mountains, continents, and oceans. Mount Meru is the abode of the main Hindu gods, including Indra, Brahma, and Vishnu. It is often described as having a height of 84,000 yojanas (approximately 1,082,000 km) and is considered the axis around which the universe revolves. In iconography, it is often depicted at the center of mandalas and temples, symbolizing cosmic order and stability. Mount Meru also influences Hindu temple architecture, with many structures designed to represent this sacred mountain.
