He ascended the throne in 1873 and ruled until his death on October 11, 1895. During his reign, Jaswant Singh II undertook several significant reforms in administration, infrastructure, and education. He modernized the state's administration by introducing more efficient bureaucratic systems. He also developed infrastructure, including building roads, schools, and hospitals. Jaswant Singh II was known for his interest in architecture, and it was in his memory that his successor, Maharaja Sardar Singh, constructed the famous Jaswant Thada cenotaph in 1899. Jaswant Singh II is often remembered for his substantial contributions to the development and modernization of Jodhpur.
