Also known as Regla de Ocha, Santería is a syncretic religion that emerged in Cuba among African slaves. It associates orishas, Yoruba deities, with corresponding Catholic saints. Religious practices include offerings, dances, songs, and complex initiations. Santería emphasizes a personal connection with the orishas, who guide and protect their followers through divinatory consultations.
