| Rashtrakuta | The Rashtrakutas were a powerful dynasty that ruled much of central and southern India between the 8th and 10th centuries. They are known for their remarkable contributions to architecture, art, and literature. The Rashtrakuta dynasty dominated a vast region of central and southern India from the 8th to the 10th century. Their capital was located at Manyakheta (present-day Malkhed in Karnataka). The Rashtrakutas are particularly famous for their architectural achievements, especially the rock-cut Kailasa temple at Ellora, a masterpiece of monolithic architecture. In addition to their architectural feats, they patronized literature in Sanskrit and Kannada. Rashtrakuta kings played a key role in the development of Indian culture and civilization during their era, and their influence extended beyond India's borders, reaching Southeast Asia and beyond through trade and cultural exchanges. |
