Nizams

The Nizams were the monarchs of the princely state of Hyderabad in India, ruling from 1724 to 1948, known for their wealth and patronage of arts and culture.

The Nizams, officially known as the Nizams of Hyderabad, were rulers of one of the richest and largest princely states in India. The first Nizam, Mir Qamar-ud-Din Khan, established his independence from the great Mughal empire in 1724, marking the beginning of the dynasty. The Nizams were known for their efficient administration, political neutrality during colonial conflicts, and immense wealth. They played a pivotal role in the development of Hyderabad, promoting the construction of modern infrastructure, educational institutions, and landmarks that stand as testimony to their reign, such as the famous Charminar and Falaknuma Palace. Their era saw Hyderabad transform into a major center of culture, education, and commerce. Their rule ended when India became independent in 1947 and Hyderabad was integrated into the Indian Union in 1948.
