| Guru Harkrishan Sahib | Guru Harkrishan Sahib is the eighth Guru of Sikhism, known for his wisdom and miracles despite his young age. Guru Harkrishan Sahib, born on July 7, 1656, and died on March 30, 1664, is the eighth of the ten Gurus of Sikhism. He was born in Kiratpur Sahib, in present-day Punjab, India. The son of Guru Har Rai Sahib, he ascended to the guruship at the age of five, becoming the youngest Guru in Sikh history. During his brief guruship, Guru Harkrishan Sahib is revered for his wisdom and compassion. He is particularly known for healing the sick during a smallpox epidemic in Delhi, using sanctified water and his blessings to alleviate people's suffering. His kindness and miracles strengthened the faith of Sikhs and attracted many new followers. Unfortunately, he contracted smallpox himself and died at the age of eight. Before his death, he appointed Guru Tegh Bahadur as his successor. Today, the Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in Delhi, a significant Sikh pilgrimage site, is associated with his memory. |
