| Ahmose I | Ahmose I, founder of the 18th Dynasty, reigned from 1539 to 1514 BCE. He is renowned for expelling the Hyksos and reunifying Egypt. Ahmose I, born around 1550 BCE and died in 1514 BCE, is the pharaoh who established the 18th Egyptian dynasty. His full name, Nebpehtyre Ahmose, means "The Lord of Strength is Born of Iah". Ahmose is credited with freeing Egypt from the Hyksos' rule, marking the start of the New Kingdom period—a time of prosperity and power. His reign, from 1539 to 1514 BCE, also saw the reconstruction of many temples and stabilization of Egypt’s southern border. Ahmose also initiated significant building projects such as his final resting place at Dra Abu el-Naga and the pyramid complex at Abydos, reflecting his commitment to the gods and cultural revival. |
