| Thutmose III | Thutmose III, often referred to as the "Napoleon of Ancient Egypt", was the sixth Pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty, reigning from 1479 to 1425 BCE. Born around 1486 BCE, Thutmose III ascended to the throne of Egypt in 1479 BCE following the death of Thutmose II. His aunt and stepmother, Hatshepsut, served as his regent during the early years of his reign. After Hatshepsut's death, Thutmose III significantly expanded Egypt’s borders, conducting successful military campaigns in Nubia and Asia as far as the Euphrates. He is credited with creating a vast and powerful Egyptian empire. During his reign, Egypt experienced a period of great economic and artistic prosperity, with significant construction works and advancements in art and architecture. Thutmose III is also noted for his mortuary temple at Deir el-Bahari and his numerous contributions to the temples of Karnak and Amun. |
