| Thien Hau | Thien Hau, also known as Mazu, is a goddess revered in Chinese and Vietnamese traditions as the protector of sailors and fishermen. Thien Hau, or Mazu, hails from Fujian Province in China and is considered the goddess of the sea. According to legend, she was a young girl named Lin Moniang, born in 960, who had powers to save sailors and fishermen in distress at sea. She died young, but her miraculous deeds earned her posthumous veneration as a goddess. Thien Hau is celebrated in numerous temples across China, Taiwan, and Vietnam, and her festivals draw thousands of devotees annually.
