The Shekhawat were a renowned Rajput dynasty known for their rich cultural heritage in Rajasthan, India.

The Shekhawat dynasty, established by Rao Shekha Ji (1433–1488), is a distinguished branch of the Rajput Kachhwaha clan. Dominating the Shekhawati region in northeastern Rajasthan since the 15th century, they reached their peak in the 18th century with the foundation of prosperous towns such as Nawalgarh, Mandawa, and Fatehpur. Shekhawat rulers maintained substantial political autonomy and cultivated economic prosperity by encouraging trade and commerce along vital caravan routes. The dynasty is particularly famous for fostering a unique artistic heritage, including the vibrant fresco murals decorating numerous havelis, earning Shekhawati its nickname "open-air art gallery of India."
