| Senusret I | Senusret I, the second pharaoh of Egypt's 12th Dynasty, ruled from 1971 to 1926 BCE. He is noted for his military campaigns in Nubia and the strengthening of Egypt's borders. Senusret I, son of Amenemhat I, was a pivotal pharaoh during the Middle Kingdom. Following his father's assassination, he took measures to secure his reign and expand the empire. He launched military expeditions that extended Egyptian territory southward to Nubia and eastward to Sinai, exploiting these regions for their rich resources. Senusret I is also famed for his extensive building program, including at Karnak and Lisht, where he erected numerous monuments and temples.
