Sayyid

The Sayyid dynasty ruled the Delhi Sultanate from 1414 to 1451, marking a transitional period before the Lodi ascended to power.

The Sayyid dynasty was one of the ruling dynasties of the Delhi Sultanate that emerged after the fall of the Tughlaqs. Founded by Khizr Khan, the dynasty is known for its attempts to stabilize the sultanate during a time of political upheaval and territorial fragmentation. Khizr Khan, who claimed descent from the Prophet Muhammad, took control of Delhi in 1414 under the Timurid Empire's patronage. However, the Sayyid dynasty struggled to assert its authority in the face of invasions and local revolts. The dynasty was eventually overthrown in 1451 by Bahlul Lodi, which marked the end of Sayyid rule and the rise of the Lodi dynasty.
