Ramesses IV

Ramses IV (born circa 1195 BCE, died 1149 BCE) was the third pharaoh of Egypt's 20th Dynasty. Despite a relatively short reign, from 1156 to 1149 BCE, he is noted for his ambitious architectural projects and efforts to maintain Egypt's stability during a period of crisis.

Ramses IV, also known by his full name "Heqamaatranebweben Ramses," was born around 1195 BCE and died in 1149 BCE. He ruled as the third pharaoh of the 20th Dynasty from 1156 to 1149 BCE, succeeding his father Ramses III. Despite a relatively short reign of seven years, Ramses IV initiated numerous projects to bolster the monarchy's power amid internal unrest and economic challenges.

Notable achievements include major architectural works, such as continuing projects started under Ramses III, and the construction of temples dedicated to Egyptian deities. His tomb, KV2, in the Valley of the Kings, is richly adorned with scenes from religious texts like the Book of the Dead and serves as a testament to the importance of funerary art during his rule. Ramses IV also oversaw mining expeditions in the Sinai to extract resources vital to construction and the economy.

However, the socio-economic difficulties and administrative corruption that began under Ramses III persisted, contributing to the dynasty's gradual decline.
