| Ramesses I | Ramesses I, born around 1300 BCE, was the founder of Egypt's Nineteenth Dynasty, ruling from 1292 to 1290 BCE. A former general, he restored stability in Egypt. Ramesses I, born as Paramessu around 1300 BCE, was an Egyptian military officer who ascended to the throne as the founder of the Nineteenth Dynasty. Although his reign was brief (1292–1290 BCE), it marked the end of the Amarna period's turmoil. A former general under Horemheb, Ramesses I inherited a kingdom in need of administrative and religious reforms. While he left few constructions, he restored political order and set the stage for his son, Seti I, to consolidate Egyptian power. Ramesses I was buried in the Valley of the Kings. |
