Vietnam and Cambodia 2014

Vietnam and Cambodia

For many years now we have been fascinated by these mythical temples buried in the jungle of Cambodia, tangled in the immense roots of giant trees which gradually regained their rights in lush nature. These temples are those of the ancient Khmer capital, Angkor.

As our first group travel experience had gone well a few months before (in Cappadocia, Turkey), we opted for a trip combining Vietnam and Cambodia in November 2014.

While the collective unconscious classifies these two countries in the category of countries scarred by one of the most terrible wars of the 20th century, our stay in Vietnam left us with an impression of an extremely dynamic population, generally young and always sympathetic.

Besides the sympathy of the people, we were struck by the beauty of nature and the architectural richness of this fascinating country (even if only a part of the wonders that this country had before the bombings remains).

After a visit from north to south of this long country, a boat brought us on the Mekong towards Phnom Pen in Cambodia. From there we continued the road by coach to Angkor, which was one of the peaks of this unforgettable trip.
