Nakodar
The city of Nakodar in Punjab, in northern India has some remarkable monuments.
Baba Murad Shah Ji Jora Ghar
The most amazing of them is the Baba Murad Shah Ji Jora Ghar. This multicolored building is intended to be a foreshadowing of the Sufi paradise. Beautifully colored, this temple is unlike any other. It looks more like a huge candy box filled with sweets than an austere Muslim temple.
In reality, it is a Darbar Sufiyana, a Sufi shrine, a kind of mausoleum where a revered religious personality rests. It is a place of pilgrimage dedicated to Baba Murad Shah, who died at the age of 28. He was a very pious follower of Sufism.
Mausoleum of Muhammad Momin and Haji Jamal
Another monument in this small town is of more classical architecture for a mausoleum.
This mausoleum dates from the 17th century and is built in the purest Mughal style. Mohammad Momin was a musician at the court of the Mughal emperor and Haji Jamal was his pupil.

• Disclaimer: As traditional music is often subject to copyright (claimed by major music distribution groups), the musical illustration of this film "Nakodar • Punjab, India (EN)" does not use typical music of India but is borrowed from a collection of royalty-free music. Despite the painstaking care given to the musical choices in this film, some people may regret this choice, but it is the price to pay for not incurring unnecessary lawsuits. This decision was difficult to take, but it's the only viable solution, unfortunately. •
