A 3-week trip through Burma in November 2016. Land of 1000 temples and big golden stupas.

Yangon, the ancient capital, Golden Rock, Pindaya and Bago are some of the cities visited.

About the 4 places in this film

Bago: Before the Burmese government's decision to rename the cities in 1989, Bago was called Pegu. Formerly her name was Hanthawaddy.

Among other things, we see a huge reclining Buddha statue (Shwethalyaung Buddah) which was rediscovered in the jungle when the station was built.

Other sites in the city include the large Shwemawdaw pagoda.

Golden Rock: If the legend is to be believed, the rock would be in unstable equilibrium on a strand of Buddah hair. A pagoda was built next to this mysterious rock perched at the top of Mount Kyaiktiyo. The rock is covered with gold leaf (hence its name) and is the third most important place of pilgrimage in Myanmar after the Shwedagon (in Yangon) and the Mahamuni pagoda near Mandalay.

Pindaya: The place is famous above all for its limestone caves where thousands of Buddha statues have been piled up over the centuries.

Yangon: Also known as Rangoon, the city was the administrative capital of the country until 2006, when a brand new city was built to house state services (Naypyidaw) in the north of the country.

Yangon is the most populous city in the country and is home to, among other things, the large pagoda covered with gold, the Shwedagon.

The city has more than 5.5 million inhabitants.
