India is a country full of architectural treasures and spectacular landscapes. To the point that we sometimes forget that there are people who live in this huge country. And we are very wrong...

Nalagarh

Like many cities in India, Nalagarh in the state of Himachal Pradesh, does not have a monument that attracts crowds of tourists. And that's good.

This does not mean that there are no historical monuments in this small town, since it has a fort. And if a city has a fort, it has a history.

Nalagarh Fort has been turned into a hotel. This phenomenon is observed in many cities, and some regret it. The transformation of a historic building into a hotel makes it lose part of its soul, but on the other hand if it had not been converted, it is much more than its soul that this monument would have lost. It would probably be in ruins today. Nalagarh Fort, which was originally built in the 15th century.

Nalagarh Fort is perched on a hill at an altitude of 600 meters and offers stunning panoramic views of the city and the surrounding hills. Nalagarh Fort is surrounded by beautiful terraced gardens, which are home to a wide variety of exotic plants and flowers. Visitors can also visit the fort's museum, which houses a rich collection of ancient weapons and historical artifacts.

Apart from Nalagarh Fort, the city is also home to other tourist attractions including Bhima Devi Cave, which houses Buddhist and Hindu sculptures and frescoes dating from the 8th to 11th centuries.

And like many cities in India, the main attraction is less in the buildings than in the people who live there. Nalagarh is no exception, and we have fond memories of the kindness of its people.

At the bend of a street we heard the songs of women coming out of the first floor of an old haveli, mansion.

We invited each other and were greeted with great kindness.

Spoken comments in the film:

Nalagarh is an ordinary city in Himachal Pradesh in India. No major monuments except for the fort which has been transformed into a hotel. But in India, you don't need to have impressive temples or palaces for a city to be full of charm. It is the warmth of its inhabitants that gives Nalagarh all its charm.
